Vietnam – RoK festival opens in HCM City

The festival is organised by the city Department of Foreign Affairs and the Korean consulate in HCM City to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

HCM CITY— The Việt Nam- Republic of Korea Festival being held in HCM City from October 28 to November 1 will have a series of cultural activities introduced by artists from the both countries.

The festival is organised by the city Department of Foreign Affairs and the Korean consulate in HCM City to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

According to the department’s permanent deputy director, Lê Trương Duy, the festival aims to promote cultural and tourism co-operation between the two nations and enhance understanding between their peoples.

There will be 200 stalls showcasing Vietnamese and Korean cuisine and products.

Kwon Sun Chil, the Korean deputy consul general in HCM City, said food production companies in his country such as CJ, Orion and Ottogi would exhibit their products.

There will be a performance of traditional Korean gugak music by the Jeong Ga Ak Hoe group and traditional Vietnamese by music groups Daoom and Lux.

Vietnamese singers Suni Ha Linh, BigDaddy and Emily will also perform at the event.

Another attraction will be “K-Pop Random Dance Play” performed by dance troupes such as MAD-X, The Shadow, BEAmE Dance Team, G.O.D Dance Cover, The Honor Cards, and D149 CREW, and dance performances by OneWay Crew and Fusion MC.

A demonstration of martial art taekwondo will be presented.

Korea is one of the most important markets for Việt Nam’s tourism industry.

In 2019, before the COVID-19 outbreak, nearly 4.3 million South Korean tourists visited Việt Nam.

The number of Vietnamese visiting Korea was 554,000. 

After Việt Nam reopened its doors to international visitors, the number of Korean tourists has been increasing rapidly, hitting 900,000 in July alone. VNS
