The province’s forest area with sustainable forest management certification will reach over 10,000 hectares by 2025 and 15,000 by 2030.

HÀ NỘI — The Agricultural and Rural Development Department of Bắc Giang Province said the province would strive for the average value of forestry products to rise by 6 per cent a year from now until 2030.

The province’s forest area with sustainable forest management certification will reach over 10,000 hectares by 2025 and 15,000 by 2030. The province strives for the export value of wood and forest products to reach VNĐ3.5 trillion by 2025 and VNĐ5 trillion by 2030.

From 2016 to the present, Yên Thế Forestry Limited Liability Company has maintained sustainable forest certification for the area of over 2,300 hectares.

To achieve this goal, Bắc Giang province promotes mechanisation and application of science and technology, improving productivity, quality and efficiency of production forests to optimise the production system and forest product value chain.

Besides, Bắc Giang focuses on developing cooperative forms between business partners, cooperatives and sharing economy profit in forestry. The province continues to innovate and improve the operational efficiency of businesses and companies in the forestry area and promote cooperatives, farms, communities and households working in forestry.

Bắc Giang will implement the structure of three kinds of forest according to the Forest master plan of Bắc Giang province for 2021 – 2030, with the vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister. Accordingly, the province will strengthen measures to manage and protect the existing forest area, especially the area of 55,000 hectares of natural forest; strictly protect natural forests as special-use and protection forests; and stabilise the concentrated material forest area of about 80,000 hectares (accounting for 74 per cent of the total production forest land area).

Up to now, Bắc Giang province has gradually formed concentrated planted forest areas linking production with the market, improving productivity, efficiency and income for forest growers.

From 2021 to 2023, the province planted 27,155 hectares of concentrated plantation forests with an average of over 9,000 hectares per year and over 18.5 million scattered trees. The area of intensive timber forestry by 2023 will reach 11,460 hectares.

In the province, concentrated raw material forest planting areas have been formed to serve the processing industry with a total area of over 80,000 hectares of production forests, with an average output of wood from planted forests reaching about 1 million cubic metres per year. The province gradually develops fine processing and reduces coarse processing. VNS
