MSD Vietnam pioneers 3D hologram and AI to boost HPV awareness

December 06, 2025 - 10:00
MSD Vietnam has launched the Minah Holobox Experience Tour, an interactive community education initiative that leverages 3D hologram and AI technology to raise awareness about HPV (Human papillomavirus) and related diseases.

HỒ CHÍ MINH CITY – In the era of booming 3D and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, the way people access information has gone beyond phone and computer screens, unlocking new, immersive learning experiences. Against this backdrop, MSD (known as Merck & Co., Inc., Rahway, NJ, USA in the United States and Canada) officially launches the Minah Holobox Experience Tour, an interactive community education initiative that leverages 3D hologram and AI technology to raise awareness about HPV (Human papillomavirus) and related diseases.

Patients and visitors can engage with verified educational content about HPV and the burden of disease, endorsed by the Vietnam Association of Preventive Medicine. They can also interact with AI Ambassador Minah, projected by 3D holographic technology powered by the Proto Hologram device, which delivers an engaging, human-like conversation experience. Participants can also take photos with Minah as a fun reminder to continue open conversations about HPV prevention.

D.G.H (27), a patient visiting VNVC in Hồ Chí Minh City, shared: “At first, I was just curious to see how the hologram technology worked, but when interacting with it, I learned that HPV also affects men, not just women. The information was presented in a clear, memorable, and innovative way, which made me realise that I should be more proactive about prevention to protect myself and those around me. If more young people could experience something like this, they would feel less hesitant to talk about HPV and pay more attention to preventive measures.”

HPV infection is extremely common throughout the world. Although the majority of HPV infections resolve spontaneously, persistent infections can develop into related diseases and cancers in both women and men, such as anogenital warts, pre-cancers, and cervical/anogenital cancers.

According to Globocan 2022, Việt Nam records approximately 6,200 new HPV-related cancer cases each year, with over 2,500 women dying from cervical cancer annually. Without timely intervention, it is estimated that by 2070, 200,000 Vietnamese women could lose their lives to cervical cancer. These alarming figures underscore the urgency of enhancing public education and implementing effective preventive measures.

Katharina Geppert, Managing Director of MSD Vietnam, shared: “Resolution No. 57 by the Politburo emphasises the importance of breakthroughs in science, technology, and digital transformation as foundations for sustainable development. In alignment with this direction, MSD brings the Holobox Experience Tour to Việt Nam to contribute to the healthcare sector’s innovation journey and support meaningful initiatives that expand access to health education and community well-being.”

MSD is proud to be a partner accompanying the national communication campaign “For a Việt Nam without the Burden of HPV”, initiated by the Ministry of Health in March 2025. The campaign welcomed 25,000 visits and achieved over 23 million online impressions across platforms.
