Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) declared the closing of the Games and made a speech at the multi-sport Manahan Stadium after the parade of the 11 contingents representing Southeast Asian countries.
The ARF members discussed many regional and international issues, especially those with complicated developments such as in the South China Sea, Myanmar, Ukraine, Korean Peninsula and Taiwan Strait in the spirit of frank and substantive dialogue.
Diplomats from partner countries – China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, India, Russia and the US – were present with ASEAN to review and orient EAS cooperation, and discuss regional and international developments.
Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son joined his ASEAN counterparts in meetings with the US, India, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the EU, and Russia on Thursday within the framework of the 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM-55) and related meetings in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
To this end, ASEAN calls for restraint from all parties to not complicate the situation in the South China Sea and urges efforts to handle disputes in line with international laws and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Seas (UNCLOS) 1982.
During the 55th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM-55) which opened on the same day in Cambodia-the chair of ASEAN 2022, the officials also discussed the bloc connectivity, narrowing development gap, maritime cooperation along with such issues as climate change, food security and energy.
