HÀ NỘI — Japanese national Yusuke Adachi is set to be hired as the new technical director of the national football team, according to the Việt Nam Football Federation (VFF).

Adachi will replace German Jurgen Gede whose contract expires at the end of June.

“Our talks are going into the final terms. We will announce the deal when it is perfected,” said VFF General Secretary Lê Hoài Anh.

The VFF said the technical director must meet the national football governing body’s range of requirements. Apart from FIFA and the AFC certificates, he has to carry out many tasks including building plans and improving the quality of youth teams, taking part in clubs’ youth training activities and working to train local coaches.

Adachi is not a strange face to Việt Nam due to his position as an elite trainer of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and he gave lectures in Việt Nam in 2017.
