Lee sacked, Biên to take charge of Viettel

HÀ NỘI — V.League 1's Viettel ended their contract with coach Lee Heung-sil yesterday due to poor results after 13 matches.

Under Lee’s five-month reign, Viettel won four, drew two and lost six to leave the team in 11th out of 14 teams.

In a statement, Viettel said “from June 12 Lee Heung-sil will be no longer be head coach of Viettel FC. This decision was a mutual agreement. Thank-you and goodbye!”.

Lee is the fourth coach to lose his job in V.League 1 this season after Trần Minh Chiến at Becamex Bình Dương, Hoàng Văn Phúc at Quảng Nam and Nguyễn Văn Sỹ at Nam Định.

Viettel also announced that Nguyễn Hải Biên has been appointed caretaker coach.

The former national team player will lead the team at Sanna Khánh Hoà this weekend. — VNS
