Vietnamese muay thai boxers defend their titles at USC event

Vietnamese fighters defended their titles at the second Uni Super Championship (USC) Muay Thai Tournament held at the Nguyễn Du Gymnasium in HCM City on Sunday.

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese fighters defended their titles at the second Uni Super Championship (USC) Muay Thai Tournament held at the Nguyễn Du Gymnasium in HCM City on Sunday.

Lê Hoàng Đức beat Chinese Ye Ying Dong to defend his title in the men’s USC Flyweight category. Đức was world amateur muay champion in 2016.

Young talent Huỳnh Hà Hữu Hiếu also had a win against Nitinart Plabplerng of Thailand to retain her title in the women’s USC Flyweight event.

Meanwhile, top Vietnamese muay fighter and seven-time world champion Nguyễn Trần Duy Nhất beat Phimwong Kitti of Thailand to win the Lightweight title.

The competition attracted fighters from six countries along with those from the hosts. It gave Vietnamese players a chance to prove themselves as well as gain experience and hone their skills. — VNS
