Việt Nam martial artists win big at Asian Vovinam Champs 2018

Việt Nam’s martial artists bagged 13 gold, 11 silver and 1 bronze medal at the 4th Asian Vovinam Championship, which concluded yesterday at Tabanan Gymnasium, Bali, Indonesia.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s martial artists bagged 13 gold, 11 silver and 1 bronze medal at the 4th Asian Vovinam Championship, which concluded yesterday at Tabanan Gymnasium, Bali, Indonesia.

Beginning on November 2, the tournament attracted 230 athletes from 17 nations and territories.

They competed for 38 medals, including 24 forms and 14 men’s and women’s sparrings.

The Việt Nam delegation had 38 members, and ranked top in the table.

Runner-up was Cambodia with 11 golds, 11 silvers and 4 bronzes. Second runner-up was Myanmar with 3 golds, 1 silver, and 10 bronzes, while host Indonesia ranked 4th with 2 golds, 5 silvers and 19 bronzes.  

At present, there are 600 Vovinam students in Indonesia, with 6 clubs Jakarta, Dwijehdra, Tabaham, Dehuhsam, Jawa Timun, and Lampumb. In Bali, over 200 attendees of 3 clubs are following Vovinam. At the Dwijehdra school, it is expected that 7,000 students of all education levels will study this kind of martial art in the future. — VNS
