HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese athletes arrived home on Tuesday with a basket of four gold medals from the third World Taijiquan Championships in Burgas, Bulgaria.

Among the winners, Phạm Ngọc Kiên notched a double victory. He won the men’s third set taijiquan C-B and the third set taijijian C-B categories. 

Nguyễn Lê Chi (women’s 42 movements taijijian C-A) and Nguyễn Trọng Lâm (men’s 42 movements taijiquan C-A) won one gold each.

Veteran Trần Thị Minh Huyền grabbed a silver in her first international competition after years of rest for injuries.

Sea Games medal holders Trần Thị Khánh Ly and Phạm Nguyễn Hoài Nam bagged two bronze medals each.

With four golds, three silvers and six bronzes, Việt Nam ranked fifth in the overall medal tally. China placed on top with its 12 golds. Hong Kong and Malaysia were second and third, and the US fourth ahead of Việt Nam. — VNS
