HÀ NỘI — Top Vietnamese tennis player Lý Hoàng Nam will soon spend one year training in Spain to improve his world rankings.
According to Nam’s training board, Becamex Bình Dương, he will train with a private coach who ranks in the ATP’s top 200, as well as a private health coach.
The expenditure for the training is about US$250,000 and will be paid by his club.
During his time in Spain, world No 433 Nam, will compete in several tournaments to hone his skills and gain points.
Earlier, Tây Ninh-born Nam was the runner-up in the men’s singles category of the Việt Nam F1 Futures tennis tournament held in Huế earlier this month. Nam and his senior partner, Lê Quốc Khánh, also earned a silver medal in the doubles event. Nam’s teammate, Trịnh Linh Giang, world No 1203, will also have a six-month training session in Spain. — VNS
