HCM CITY – Tăng Nguyệt Minh will become the first Vietnamese woman to take part in the 2018 North Pole Marathon to be run on April 9.

Life insurer FWD Vietnam has announced that it will sponsor the HCM City-based athlete and said its main aim is to encourage people to overcome difficulties and pursue their dreams.

This is the second year FWD is sponsoring participants in this marathon.

Besides Minh, FWD is sponsoring nine more athletes from five other Asian countries.

The athletes will go for a 10-day trip, which will include training to improve their strength and acclimatise to the tough conditions at the pole.

Minh, who has two children and runs a fashion shop, fell in love with running after taking part in a charity race.
