HÀ NỘI — Jan Paul Morales won the 11th stage of the VTV International Cycling Tournament, or Tôn Hoa Sen Cup today.

Morales of the Philippines Navy Standard Insurance won the 121km stage from Tuy Hòa to Nha Trang City over the Mũi Điện and Cả Mountain passes in a time of 3:56.05.

Trần Nguyễn Duy Nhân of Military Zone 7 and Nguyễn Minh Việt of VUS-HCM City were the runners-up.

Trần Nguyễn Minh Trí of Pharmacy Domesco Đồng Tháp placed fourth, while Morales’s teammate, Ronald Oranza finished fifth.

“We had prepared for the 11th stage carefully because we didn’t compete successfully in the last stage. We needed an improvement. That was the reason why we performed well today,” said coach Bernie Llentada of the Philippines team.

Llentada said his team will support Morales to take the lead in the next stages.

Although Desriac Loic of Bike Life VDC didn’t finish in the top five, he retained the yellow jersey for best overall time.

The green jersey for the best sprinter is held by Lê Văn Duẩn of VUS-HCM City, while Junrey Navarra of CCN has the red jersey as the King of Mountain with 33 points.

Today, cyclists will have a day off before competing in the 12th stage from Nha Trang to Đà Lạt City, lasting 136km. — VNS
