HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese player Nguyễn Hoàng Thiên was ousted from the Singapore F2 Men’s Futures tennis tournament on Monday.

Qualifier Thiên lost to No 2 seed Aryan Goveas of India 2-6, 3-6 in the first round of the singles.

Earlier, Thiên beat Punnakrit Kritakara of Thailand 7-5, 2-1 in the qualification round.

After Thiên’s defeat, Lý Hoàng Nam is the only Vietnamese player remaining in Singapore. The No 7 seed will play his first round match against Sho Katayama of Japan.

In the doubles event today, Nam and Chinese Taipei partner Yu Cheng-yu will meet Sherwin Foo and Roy Hobbs of Singapore. — VNS
