HÀ NỘI — Thái Nguyên came from behind to beat HCM City 2 2-1 in the sixth round of the second leg of the National Women’s Football Championship at the Thống Nhất Stadium in HCM City on Sunday.

Heavy rain continued through most of the match. However, hosts HCM City opened the score in the seventh minute thanks to a penalty kick by Đỗ Thị Thúy Kiều.

Receiving an early setback, Thái Nguyên played attack continuously in the first half in an attempt to level the score but they failed.

In the second half, Thái Nguyên’s efforts were paid off by a goal by Lê Thị Thùy Trang in the 53rd minute.

Just 16 minutes later, captain Nguyễn Hải Hòa raised the score to 2-1 for Thái Nguyên.

In the other match, Phong Phú Hà Nam beat Sơn La 8-0 to top the rankings.

Hà Nam scored five goals in the first half and another three easy goals in the second half. Among the goal scorers, Nguyễn Thị Tuyết Dung scored a hat trick, while Nguyễn Thị Liễu and Nguyễn Thị Nguyệt scored two goals each. — VNS
