Việt Nam women’s football drop to 35th in FIFA rankings

Việt Nam’s women’s national football team dropped six spots from 29th to 35th in the latest FIFA rankings for the first quarter of 2016, with 1,620 points.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s women’s national football team dropped six spots from 29th to 35th in the latest FIFA rankings for the first quarter of 2016, with 1,620 points. 

The team’s ranking fell after they finished last in the third Olympic 2016 qualification round that took place in Osaka, Japan, in March. Việt Nam placed seventh in the Asian rankings, following Thailand. 

Australia led in Asia with 2,014 points, followed by Japan, North Korea, China and South Korea. The United States continue to lead in the world rankings, followed by Germany, France, the United Kingdom and Australia, as well as Sweden, Japan and Brazil.

FIFA’s second quarter rankings will be announced on June 24. – VNS
