Hà Nội T&T triumphed at the National U19 Football Championship after beating Viettel 5-4 in a penalty shootout yesterday in Nha Trang.

Hoàng Minh scored for Viettel at the 37th minute after a chaotic dash in front of goalkeeper Đỗ Sỹ Huy of Hà Nội T&T.

Phạm Tuấn Hải levelled the score 20 minutes after the interval with a counter-attack.

The draw forced both sides into penalties. Viettel’s Nguyễn Trọng Đại, captain of the national U19 team, missed his shot, which was saved by goalie Huy.

Hà Nội T&T, who entered the final match after beating defending champions PVF in the semi-finals after the penalties, grabbed the title for the third time. — VNS
