HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese athletes won 10 gold medals at the Asian Canoe Sprint Junior and U23 Championships and Southeast Asian Canoe Sprint Championships 2025 on June 15 in Thailand.
The Three ASEAN champions were Phạm Hồng Quân in the men's C1 500m, Nguyễn Thị Hương and Diệp Thị Hương in the women's C2 500m and Hương and Ma Thị Thùy in the women's C2 200m.
The U23 competitors took four golds while the U18 athletes secured two from the Asian event. The rest of the golds went to the kayaking team.
In addition, Việt Nam also won three silver and six bronze medlas.
Dương Hồng Hạnh, manager of the Rowing Department of the Sports Authority of Việt Nam said: “All delegations competed against the strongest rivals as this championships was good preparation for the 33rd SEA Games.
"Here, we had opportunities to watch and research our arch-rivals such as Thailand and Singapore. We will have suitable plans for the upcoming SEA Games."
Prior to the Southeast Asian Championships, Việt Nam took part in the Asian championships in China and earned one gold medal, four silver and one bronze. VNS
