HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese muay thai martial artists shone at the Youth World Championship 2024 which has concluded in Bangkok, Thailand.

The team have brought home one gold, four silvers and nine bronzes, to rank 11th in the medal tally.

The gold medal went to Đỗ Phương Nguyên and Nguyễn Thu Phương of Hà Nội team in the women's (age 14-15) waikru doubles event on Wednesday.

Head coach of the Vietnamese youth muay thai team, Dương Ngọc Hải said: "This year, all delegations sent the best young talent to compete. This was an opportunity for the athletes to test themselves, as well as accumulate more experience for future development."

This year’s tournament attracted the participation of 1,600 athletes from 146 delegations around the world. Athletes competed in four age groups : 10-11, 12-13, 14-15 and 16-17. The Philippines, Thailand and Ukraine topped the medal table. VNS
