HÀ NỘI -- Vietnamese Cerberus Esports has become the first team to win Global PUBG Esports Tournament from the APAC region.

2024 PUBG (PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds) Global Series 3 is the first major championship of PUBG PC in 2024. The tournament was held offline in Shanghai, China, on May 20-26 with a total prize of US$300,000.

Cerberus were the only representative from Việt Nam playing against 23 teams including five of the hosts, four each from South Korea and Thailand and three from the US.

Cerberus, winner of the APAC region, did not have good beginning after losing to Twisted Minds of Russia in the first match. A big gap of 34 points between two teams made nobody believe in a high-result for the Việt Nam side.

The team finished second in the group round and advanced to the finals.

In the three-day finals, while the more they played the better result they took, their main rivals -- Soniqs Esports (US), Twisted Minds (Saudi Arabia) and PeRo (China) showed poor performance.

Cerberus stormed to top place with 163 points, 21 more than the second-placed Soniqs and Twisted Minds were third with 133 points.

Cerberus also set a record of most kill points of 108 and player Lã Phương Tiến Đạt aka Himass was voted MVP of the tournament. He is also considered the best PUBG player in the world currently.

Vietnamese Lã Phương Tiến Đạt -- Himass -- is the world best PUBG player.

"Prior to the tournament, all of us wish to win the title to give to our supporters who watching from home," said Hà Hữu Tài aka Taikonn.

"There is the best player in the world in my team so it's true that we win the championship."

Snakers, fourth finisher at the PGC 2022, said Himass's personal performance was the best ever he saw in career. The Vietnamese player would definitely a GOAT (Greatest of All Time) and Cerberus deserved to have that victory.

The championship title gave Cerberus a $100,000 bonus and a place in the PUBG Global Championship (PGC) 2024 scheduled by the end of this year.

Cerberus have a week rest before they take part in the PUBG Global Series 4 from June 3-9, also in Shanghai. VNS
