Quảng Ninh masters claim high position at national chess club champs

THÁI NGUYÊN — Quảng Ninh finished second in the National Chess Clubs Cup which wrapped up in Thái Nguyên on November 30.

After five days of competitions, Quảng Ninh claimed 11 golds, seven silvers and 12 bronzes.

Among winners are Nguyễn Ngọc Thảo Nguyên who pocketed one individual and two team golds in the girls' U9 class; Nguyễn Xuân Trường who bagged one individual and one team titles in the boys' U13; Vũ Gia Bảo who took one individual and two team golds and one individual silver in the boys' U13.

Hà Nội's Future Master Club took the top podium with 16 golds. Cao Bằng Province came third with eight golds.

The Cup was organised by the Việt Nam Chess Federation and the Thái Nguyên Province's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Almost 750 athletes from 42 teams took part in the event's age categories ranging from seven to 17 for amateur athletes and pro masters.  — VNS
