HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam representative Sahako FC kicked off their AFF Futsal Cup 2022 with a 2-0 win over Ramelau FC from Timor Leste on September 4 in Thailand.
A stubborn Ramelau side held off Sahako for much of the exchange for the score to stand scoreless at the half.
But a defensive mistake just after the break saw Dương Ngọc Linh pouncing for the lead as Ngô Ngọc Sơn then finished things off five minutes to the end.
Sahako will play a second match against Selangor of Malaysia on Tuesday. A draw result is enough to push Việt Nam's national first runners-up to the semi-finals in their regional tournament debut.
In other activities in Group A, Hongyen Thakam from Thailand and Bintang Timur Surabaya (BTS) from Indonesia secured big wins, overcoming their opponents at Terminal 21 in Korat.
Both Hongyen and BTS whipped Perwira FC from Brunei and Down Town Sports from Cambodia, respectively, by the same 12-2 score.
The AFF Futsal Cup features seven teams divided into two groups. They compete in a round robin format in the group stage with the two best ones advancing to the semi-finals.
The final will be on September 10. VNS
