Việt Nam records two more imported COVID-19 cases

Two returnees from Japan and the US are the latest COVID-19 patients in Việt Nam on Monday evening, bringing the nation’s total cases to 1,283.

HÀ NỘI — Two returnees from Japan and the US are the latest COVID-19 patients in Việt Nam on Monday evening, bringing the nation’s total cases to 1,283.

Patient 1,282 is a 27-year-old Vietnamese woman from central Quảng Trị Province’s Vĩnh Linh District. The patient landed on November 14 at Vân Đồn Airport on Vietnam Airlines’ flight VN311 from Japan. 

Quarantined on arrival in northern coastal Quảng Ninh Province, she tested positive for the SAR-CoV-2 virus one day later at the provincial Centre for Disease Control.

She has been moved to Hà Nội’s National Hospital for Tropical Diseases for treatment.

Patient 1,283 is a 23-year-old man from District 12, HCM City, who arrived on November 8 at Đà Nẵng International Airport. The patient took a flight from the US to Japan on flight NH5 and from Japan to Việt Nam on Vietnam Airlines flight VN311.

She was quarantined on arrival in central Đà Nẵng City and is being treated at the Đà Nẵng Lung Hospital after testing positive for the virus on her third test on Monday.

On the same day, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control reported 21 patients recovered and were released from hospitals.

These patients will have 14 days of self-quarantine at home.

With the latest additions, Việt Nam recorded 1,283 cases of COVID-19. Of them, 35 have died and 1,124 have recovered.

Currently, more than 15,540 people are under quarantine. — VNS
