NGHỆ AN — A woman delivered a baby on the north-south train SE8 going from Sài Gòn to Hà Nội at noon on Wednesday with the assistance of railway staff and some passengers.
The mother and baby are reportedly in good health.
The woman, Đặng Thị Phú, a resident from Nghệ An Province’s Diễn Châu District, was travelling with her husband, her sister and her daughter from Dĩ An Station (Bình Dương Province) to Vinh Station (Nghệ An Province) when she went into labour.
Captain Bùi Anh Hưng asked qualified passengers to help while informing authorities about the woman. He requested the train stop at Ngã Ba Station (Khánh Hòa Province) so they could send her to hospital.
However, at 12.40pm the woman gave birth to a baby girl with the assistance of train staff and passengers while waiting for an ambulance.
At 1pm, Phú and her baby were brought to a hospital in Cam Ranh City.
SE8 is operated by the Sài Gòn Railway Transport Joint Stock Company.
Previously, on April 26, Captain Trần Văn Trí and his staff also helped a pregnant woman give birth to a baby girl on the SE4 train running from Dĩ An Station to Vinh Station. — VNS
