ĐIỆN BIÊN — Two people have died and another is still missing after an explosion at a stone quarry triggered by a bold of lightning.
According to initial reports, explosives were placed at the mine of Hoàng Anh Company in Na Ư Commune, Điện Biên District, when lightning struck during a thunderstorm on Monday afternoon.
This caused a landslide leaving two people from Ninh Bình Province and one from Điện Biên Province buried under the rocks.
Around 7.15pm that night, rescuers recovered the bodies of two people. The third still remains unaccounted for.
Local authorities have mobilised two excavators to search for the last victim. — VNS
