Criminal proceedings begin over Hà Nội veterinary medicine warehouse fire

HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội Police have started criminal proceedings relating to a fire at a veterinary medicine warehouse in Phú Thị Industrial Zone in Gia Lâm District, which killed three people on May 6 (Wednesday).

The proceedings were in line with Article 313 of the 2015 Criminal Code that covers violations in fire safety regulations.

At 11am on Wednesday, a fire broke out at the warehouse of Biovet Export-Import Joint Stock Company in Phú Thị Industrial Zone in Hà Nội’s Gia Lâm District.

The blaze reportedly grew to dozens of metres high, covering about 1,000 square metres of the warehouse and making it difficult for firefighters to approach the building.

Three people were killed in the fire, including two men and a woman.

They were all workers of the company and residing in Gia Lâm District’s Dương Xá Commune.

Their bodies were found on Wednesday evening.

The fire was brought under control at 4.30pm the same day. The cause of the fire remains unknown. — VNS
