HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam recorded 17 new COVID-19 cases imported from overseas, raising the national count to 288 on Thursday evening.

All of the new patients are Vietnamese nationals returning from the UAE on a Vietnam Airlines flight on May 3 and have been quarantined after immigration.

The flight had 297 passengers. The result of HCM City’s Pasteur Institute showed 17 people tested positive.

Among them there are three people from one family who lived with a SARS-CoV-2 patient in Dubai and a baby who was born this year. The national steering committee on COVID-19 prevention and control did not provide any further details.

The patients are being treated at the general hospital in Bạc Liêu Province.

All cabin crew members are in quarantine.

As of Thursday evening, 233 out of 288 patients in Việt Nam have recovered. — VNS
