Five arrested in Thanh Hóa for trafficking 700kg of explosives

THANH HÓA — Five people in the central province of Thanh Hóa have been arrested for trafficking more than 700kg of explosives, according to the provincial police.

The detainees are Trịnh Văn Biền from Vĩnh Lộc District; Hoàng Thị Nguyệt from Cẩm Thủy District, director of Vân Lộc Ltd Company which is allowed to use explosives in quarrying; Lê Văn Cường from Thọ Xuân District; Lê Sỹ Tròn from Vĩnh Lộc District and Đinh Trọng Khang from Hải Hậu District, Nam Định Province.

Tròn, Biền and Nguyệt confessed to the police that they colluded to buy 700kg of industrial explosives to sell and gain profits since April.

On April 29, Khang and another person contacted Tròn to order 230kg of explosives and 500m of slow-blow wire. They were caught on the spot while exchanging explosives at Hoàng Bridge area in Yên Định District. — VNS
