SƠN LA — Four people trapped in a cave on Hài Mountain in the northern mountainous province of Sơn La were rescued on Monday afternoon.

According to Sơn La City Police, two women and two men from Sơn La City and Hà Nội went exploring the cave on Sunday night.

But they were unable to climb out due to the steep and slippery mountain cliffs.

50 police officers and medical workers were dispatched for the rescue effort. Rescuers used a ladder to enter the cave, approach victims and take them one by one out of the cave via the mountain top.

At 4.30pm on Monday, they were safely brought back to the ground.

Hai mountain has an area of 82ha, the height from the ground up to the cave is about 300m. Local authorities have warned people against climbing the mountain. — VNS
