HÀ NAM — Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Lê Văn Thanh on Thursday praised the northern province of Hà Nam for its work in the prevention of coronavirus.
A report by the Hà Nam Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs showed that the province has 1,500 foreign workers, and 540 of them were Chinese.
So far, no cases of coronavirus have been reported in the province.
Thanh said enterprises had cooperated with local authorities in raising awareness among workers about hygiene and epidemic prevention.
Thanh asked the province to continue keeping a close watch on the epidemic, and providing information related to workers from China.
If the epidemic continues, enterprises must plan for training Vietnamese workers to replace Chinese ones.
JY HaNam Co Ltd in the Lý Nhân Industrial Zone in the province has 31 Chinese workers out of more than 1,800.
Sixteen out of the 31 Chinese workers had returned to work after the Tết (Lunar New Year) festival.
All were isolated and tested negative for the virus.
Bùi Quang Cẩm, deputy director of the provincial People’s Committee, said that the province would continue making great efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. — VNS
