HÀ NỘI — The Civil Aviation Administration of Việt Nam (CAAV) has decided to suspend the flight crew of a Vietjet Air flight that encountered landing problems at Buôn Ma Thuột Airport in Đắk Lắk Province last week.

Flight VJ356 from HCM City to Buôn Ma Thuột Airport experienced problems landing late last Thursday when the wheels from the front of the plane flew off. Authorities found one wheel last Friday and the second on Sunday morning.

Some passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment, according to Vietjet. No serious injuries were reported.

The suspended crew includes the pilots, flight attendants and other aviation personnel responsible for servicing the plane.

The CAAV also decided to revoke the licences of the two foreign pilots indefinitely following the incident.

Deputy Minister of Transport Lê Đình Thọ said the two pilots, from the Philippines and Spain, had explained the incident and worked with authorised agencies.

A representative from the CAAV said it would make a final decision on the two pilots when the investigation into the incident was completed.

The investigation team will work with Airbus specialists to decode the black box. The budget carrier received the aircraft from the France-based Airbus two weeks ago.

French investigation authorities will oversee the process.

According to a representative from the CAAV, technical factors had been ruled out. The plane and weather conditions were fine prior to landing.

Deputy Prime Minister Trương Hòa Bình asked the transport ministry and relevant agencies to find the cause of the incident and punished organisations and individuals found to have violated regulations. — VNS
