HCM CITY — Construction on a second facility for the Blood Transfusion Hematology Hospital started on Wednesday in HCM City’s Bình Chánh District.
The hospital, which will have a basement and five floors, is located on 33,000 sq metres, with total investment of VNĐ1 trillion (US$43 million).
It has 300 beds for inpatients and 500 beds for outpatients.
Construction of the hospital facility is expected to be completed by October 2020.
Dr Phù Chí Dũng, director of the first facility of the hospital, said that it receives about 500 outpatients and 200 inpatients a day.
It supplies about 250,000 bags of blood for hospitals in HCM City and neighbouring provinces. The blood bank’s capacity, however, will be insufficient by 2020.
Nguyễn Tấn Bỉnh, director of HCM City’s Department of Health, said the new hospital would carry out research and training for the city’s health sector. — VNS
