ĐÀ NẴNG — Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc has asked an APEC guard force to offer perfect protection for the 2017 Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Summit in Đà Nẵng from November 5-11.

Phúc told the guards here yesterday that protection of the APEC Summit was an honour for armed forces from the ministries of Public Security and Defence.

He praised efforts made by provinces, agencies and guards at Senior Official Meetings (SOMs) of APEC in eight provinces and cities since early this year.

“Ministries of public security, defence, foreign affairs sub-committee of security and heath, in co-operation with Đà Nẵng City should review solutions and measures," he said.

“Drastic measures must be taken to prevent any public disorder that would affect the summit,” he said.

Phúc added that Thừa Thiên-Huế, Quảng Nam and Đà Nẵng had built up their security preparations.

Deputy Minister of Public Security, Bùi Văn Nam, said the sub-committee of security and health had co-operated closely with the APEC Secretariat in successful protection of SOMs at eight provinces and cities since early this year.
