HCM City approves three new electric-bus routes

The HCM City People’s Committee on Thursday approved three new electric-bus routes to serve tourists in the city, according to the city’s Department of Transport.

HCM CITY — The HCM City People’s Committee on Thursday approved three new electric-bus routes to serve tourists in the city, according to the city’s Department of Transport.

The electric-bus routes will be operated by the King Tour Travel Transport Co., Ltd and run on a trial basis for the next three years.

They will begin at 20C Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai Street in District 1 and stop at tourist destinations on the routes.

The first electric-bus route will allow passengers to explore the most popular sights, including Notre Dame Cathedral, Sài Gòn Central Post Office, Reunification Palace and Bến Thành Market.

The second route will pass by the History Museum, War Remnants Museum, Labour Culture Palace and Tao Đàn Park.

Passengers can visit Bình Tây Market, Thiên Hậu Temple and An Đông Market on the third bus route.

During the trial run, about 20 electric buses will run from 8am to 4pm and from 7pm to 11pm daily.

Each electric bus has eight to 14 seats. Tickets are VNĐ20,000 (US$0.9) per trip, and buses can be rented for VNĐ300,000 ($13) for no more than three hours.

The electric-bus stations will be located at the Sofitel Plaza Sài Gòn, New World Hotel, Sheraton Hotel and Ocean Palace Restaurant in District 1, and Victory Hotel in District 3. — VNS
