HCM CITY — The Canadian consulate in HCM City has expanded its visa application centre to cope with a rise in the number of visitors and students applying to travel and study in Canada.
Last year there were 15,000 applicants, 1,000 more than in 2014.
More than 15,000 applications have already been received this year.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the opening ceremony, Canadian Foreign Minister Stéphane Dion said 5,000 Vietnamese students study in Canada.
“5,000 are good but it is not enough. We would like to have more.” — VNS
