VĨNH LONG — Universities in Vĩnh Long Province are focusing on equipping students and young start-ups with digital transformation skills to implement Resolution 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in innovation and technology.

Trà Vinh University is carrying out Resolution 57 with its start-up incubation programmes, helping students develop business ideas, solicit investment, and launch their products in the market, Associate Professor Diệp Thanh Tùng, its deputy director, said.

One of the university’s biggest success stories is SABAY, a project which later grew into a business that processes the traditional bún nước lèo noodle soup of the Khmer people into soup cubes using freeze-drying technology.

The packaging also features QR codes linking to a 3D Khmer museum tour so that buyers can learn more about this ethnic minority, which the project describes as a way to combine digital technology with harnessing cultural values.

The university supported the project through marketing activities, fund raising events, market surveys, and other consultancy, and guided the students through business registration processes and intellectual property protection.

Cửu Long University is investing billions of đồng into upgrading its facilities and digital infrastructure to train high-quality and technologically capable manpower and do innovative research, many of which have been featured in well-known international publications.

It also boasts a medical science internship and start-up facility, which trains students in practical skills and operating technologies.

Meanwhile in May, the Vĩnh Long University Of Technology Education organised a training class on the business philosophies of Design thinking and Lean start-up, with attendees from agencies and education facilities across the province.

The students were taught how to involve AI and other digital technologies in business processes.

Vĩnh Long Province is carrying out a plan to help start-up businesses develop a start-up ecosystem and encourage the adoption of digital transformation.

It will focus on developing business ideas and bringing them to the market, training business owners on how to apply AI in their operations; connecting them with investors and potential partners, and helping them participate in events related to innovation and technology solutions.

The province has instructed educational facilities to enable scientific research and create favourable conditions for start-ups. — VNS
