NINH BÌNH — The northern province of Ninh Bình's education sector has prepared facilities and equipment while reviewing and restructuring organisation to get ready for the new school year.

The intensive preparation is aimed at ensuring the best possible learning conditions for students.

Đinh Văn Khâm, deputy director of the provincial Department of Education and Training, said the provincial People’s Committee has approved specific enrolment targets for each education level.

At preschool level, the province expects to enrol more than 210,800 children, an increase of 1,135 children and 55 classes compared with the previous school year.

Preschool-age children alone are expected to achieve a 98 per cent attendance rate.

For general education, all of the children completing the five-year preschool programme will enter Grade 1, and all of the primary school graduates will enter Grade 6.

At the high school level, the province will admit a total of 44,991 students to Grade 10 in both public and private schools, along with 7,245 students in the vocational/continuing education system.

The network of schools and technical infrastructure in the province has continued to receive investment, said Khâm.

To date, 95 per cent of public preschools and general education schools across the province have met national standards.

Localities are accelerating progress on four new construction projects and 14 renovation projects for high schools and vocational education centres.

Khâm said that the education sector is working closely with localities to review the school network, prioritising investment in smart classrooms and information technology infrastructure to narrow the gap between regions, while attracting investment resources in urban areas and industrial zones.

In parallel with facility investment, intensive training and upskilling of teachers is being carried out.

The Department of Education and Training requires units to send at least 50 per cent of teachers to take part in upskilling training courses and to hold in-depth training sessions on the Law on Teachers, the Law on Education and professional management for nearly 2,100 educational managers and school principals.

Sustainable education development

Training on the new unified set of textbooks, content and teaching methods has been systematically organised for teachers.

A particular highlight in preparations for this school year is guidance on the use of information technology and artificial intelligence (AI) for all teachers to innovate teaching methods, develop lesson plans and improve revision methods for the high school graduation examination.

Nguyễn Tiến Dũng, director of the Ninh Bình Department of Education and Training, confirmed: “In the 2026–27 school year, the province’s education sector will continue to innovate leadership and management, focus on comprehensively improving education quality and maintaining the ‘Ninh Bình – Land of Learning’ brand.”

The sector will strengthen innovation in teaching methods, emphasise moral education and life skills, accelerate digital transformation and create a breakthrough in applying AI to management and teaching.

It will also expand STEM education to gradually form a digital school environment and digital citizens, meeting the requirements for training future skilled workers for the locality.

The department has also submitted to the provincial People’s Committee a plan detailing enrolment targets for each education level, Dũng said.

In Yên Khánh Commune, secretary of the Party Committee Dương Đức Khanh said that the commune had instructed schools to work promptly to stabilise their organisation and build a united teaching staff.

At the same time, the locality is streamlining the administrative apparatus and preparing to operate smoothly throughout the new school year.

The Yên Khánh Commune People’s Committee has asked each school principal immediately upon taking up their duties to finalise plans on staffing, classes, facilities and conditions to ensure safety.

Issues within their jurisdiction must be resolved immediately, while matters beyond their purview must be reported early, with clear proposed solutions, Khanh said.

Schools are to build appropriate governance mechanisms, with clear delegation of authority, substantive empowerment, specific responsibilities, regular inspection and unified quality standards to raise the overall quality of education. — VNS
