ĐÀ NẴNG — Two people have been rescued after went missing at sea, while two others remained unaccounted for after rough waves swept them to water off Nghê cape – the far east most of Sơn Trà Peninsula – during a photo trip early morning on Saturday.

The city’s Sơn Trà Border Guard Station said they got an SOS call from local people about the missing of three tourists at the site around 7.30am.

It said a group of six tourists from the neighbouring province Quảng Ngãi and Thăng Bình Commune of Đà Nẵng went to the cape for a photo session around 6am. Three girls suddenly slipped off the rock into the sea, and one man jumped into the sea to save three victims. However, the man was then washed away by big waves.

Rescue forces from the station, in co-operation with the Đà Nẵng Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre Region 2 (MRCC2), called fishing boats around the sea for joint-searching activities.

A fishing boat then saved the man around 8am, and took him to the MRCC2 centre for a health check and treatment, and a rescue ship from Navy Region 3 saved another victim floating about two nautical miles away from the cape around 2.30pm.

Two other girls have yet to be found as of Saturday afternoon, the report from the border station.

Sơn Trà Nature Reserve is an attractive destination in Đà Nẵng with an area of 4,400ha of primary forest, rocks and pristine beaches for summer vacation and hiking.

The reserve attracts at least 10,000 people every month.

Several missing cases have happened at the site when inexperienced free trippers went missing in the jungle or remote downhill zone.
