HCM CITY — A new organisation, the Water Innovation Organisation (WIO), was launched in HCM City last Sunday to promote sustainable water solutions and community action in response to World Water Day (March 22).

WIO made its debut at the Charity Class in Bình Trưng Ward, introducing a collaborative platform that connects communities, businesses, experts and international partners to advance sustainable water management and protection efforts in Việt Nam.

The organisation seeks to foster innovation, raise public awareness and encourage collective action to protect water resources, particularly as the country faces increasing challenges from climate change and rapid urbanisation.

WIO is envisioned as a collaborative platform that promotes practical and innovative approaches to water governance, efficient water use and community engagement, helping bridge knowledge, technology and real-world action.

Rather than focusing solely on technological solutions, the organisation emphasises innovation in social engagement, education and behavioural change in water use.

It plans to develop programmes on water education, communication and community awareness, while also connecting initiatives in urban water management and encouraging corporate responsibility in protecting water resources.

Nguyễn Tuấn Khởi, founder of WIO, said the organisation aims to become a bridge between knowledge and action in sustainable water development.

“We believe that building a sustainable water future requires the participation of the entire society. Water Innovation was established to connect Việt Nam with global knowledge and promote positive and long-lasting change for communities,” he said.

In the coming years, WIO plans to expand international cooperation and connect with global water networks to share expertise and introduce advanced models to Việt Nam, while also contributing local initiatives to the international community.

The organisation is operated by Water Innovation Social Enterprise Joint Stock Company and aims to develop a sustainable ecosystem through community programmes, business partnerships and innovation initiatives in the water sector.

With the message “Global Knowledge – Local Action”, WIO is expected to contribute to building a nationwide movement to protect water resources and promote sustainable development in Việt Nam.

As part of the launch event, WIO handed over a clean water facility to the Charity Class in Bình Trưng Ward, which supports many orphaned and disadvantaged children and is part of the Việt Nam Food Bank network.

The project includes a clean water system and filtration equipment to improve living conditions, learning environments and health for students.

The activity symbolises the organisation’s commitment to linking long-term vision with practical community action from the outset. — VNS
