HÀ NỘI — Upon learning of a collision between two high-speed trains, Iryo and Alvia, in the town of Adamuz, Cordoba Province, Spain, which resulted in multiple fatalities, Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính on Tuesday sent a message of condolences to his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sanchez.

Earlier last Sunday, a northbound high-speed train carrying over 300 passengers traveling from Málaga to Madrid derailed and was struck by another high-speed service traveling in the opposite direction.

At least 40 people were killed in this incident and over 122 were injured, with many survivors describing the impact as feeling like an earthquake. — VNS
