Over 25 tonnes of military-grade bullets and shells seized at northern port

HẢI PHÒNG — Customs officials in the northern city of Hải Phòng have seized more than 25 tonnes of bullets and shell casings illegally imported through Đình Vũ Port.

During an inspection, Đình Vũ Port Customs officers detected suspicious signs in a shipment declared by Bedra Vietnam Alloy Material Co., Ltd., based in Hòa Phú Industrial Park, the northern province of Bắc Ninh.

All items are military-grade ammunition, including many intact and fully functional bullets.

Customs officers immediately coordinated with Hải Phòng Police, the Northern Anti-Drug and Crime Task Force under the Border Guard Command and Region 1 of the Việt Nam Coast Guard to jointly examine the container.

According to the customs declaration, the goods were listed as scrap copper, weighing 25,045kg and packed in 16 bags inside container number IAAU2737310, imported from Malaysia.

Forensic tests conducted by the Criminal Science Institute under the Ministry of Public Security confirmed that all items were military-grade ammunition, including many intact and fully functional bullets.

Regional Customs Sub-Department 3 has transferred the case to Hải Phòng Police for further investigation. — VNS
