ĐẮK LẮK – Đắk Lắk Province has issued an order banning all fishing boats from going to sea, as well as organising a school break for pupils in preparation for Storm No 13.
Amid the complicated developments of Typhoon No 13 (Kalmaegi), the chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee directed relevant agencies on November 5 to strictly implement preventive measures and ensure absolute safety for people and properties.
The leaders of 12 coastal communes and wards were instructed to promptly inform local residents, urge fishermen to seek safe shelters, and enforce the sea ban.
The chairman also requested the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and the Fisheries Sub-Department to coordinate with local authorities in monitoring weather developments.
Coastal communes and wards, together with relevant agencies, were instructed to raise public awareness, inspect compliance, and guide fishermen to promptly move their boats to safe shelters and anchor securely when storm warnings are issued.
During storms, the province strictly prohibits individuals from staying on boats, at aquaculture farms, or in watchtowers.
Amid the adverse weather conditions, the Provincial Department of Education and Training instructed educational institutions in coastal communes and wards at risk of being directly affected by the typhoon to suspend classes for students, college learners and preschool children from the afternoon of November 5 through November 7.
At the same time, educational institutions must plan make-up sessions for students once the weather stabilises.
Typhoon No 13 is affecting several central provinces in Việt Nam, as well as causing devastating damages to the Phillipines, leaving at least 114 people dead as of writing. - VNS
