ĐÀ NẴNG - Four people are still missing and 21 others have been injured while evacuating from submerged areas in rural lowlands and remote mountain villages around Đà Nẵng, the city’s Storm and Flood Prevention Centre has reported.
The centre said 154 houses have either completely collapsed or sustained damaged in the mountainous area, while 460ha of rice and vegetable farms along with more than 7,900 livestock have been swept away by floodwaters.

A 3.4km beach dike in the coastal area of Hội An was heavily eroded, with up to 30m hollowed out, while many sections of national roads 14B, 40B and 24C connecting Đà Nẵng with former Quảng Nam and Quảng Ngãi provinces were damaged, the centre said.
To date, more than 76,000 households in 39 communes have been submerged in floodwaters.
The city called on 6,100 rescuers to evacuate 15,886 people to safe shelters during the worst of the flooding, between October 27 and 29.

More provisions, including food and drinking water, have been transported by rescue forces and volunteer groups to flood-stricken villages as floodwaters have slowly started receding. VNS
