Heavily injured fisherman successfully rescued by marine guards

A severely injured fisherman was rescued yesterday by guards aboard the Việt Nam CSB 8021 Patrol Vessel, according to the Coast Guard Region 3 Command.

KIÊN GIANG – A severely injured fisherman was rescued yesterday by guards aboard the Việt Nam CSB 8021 Patrol Vessel, according to the Coast Guard Region 3 Command.

The injured man, Nguyễn Vũ Nguyên, is a crew member of the KG 90991 TS fishing boat, captained by Phan Văn Ô.

Nguyên sustained a deep soft-tissue laceration to his left arm caused by an electric winch while operating the boat.

At around 12:20 yesterday, an emergency signal sent out by Ô was received by CSB 8021 Patrol Vessel.

Marine guards were able to reach the boat and perform emergency first aid in time.

The victim received 20 stitches, was bandaged, kept warm, and given medication. He was placed under intensive care.

By 1:40 pm the same day, the bleeding had stopped and his vital signs were within normal limits.

He was subsequently transported to shore for further medical treatment. – VNS
