HÀ NỘI Five people were rescued from a fire at a rental house in the suburbs of Hà Nội early on Thursday morning.
This is the latest in a series of fires in Hà Nội, following an apartment fire in Trung Kính that claimed 14 lives on the night of 24 May.
According to the Hà Đông District Police (Hà Nội), a fire broke out around 5:30 am on 30 May at a residential house with rental rooms at No. 7, Group 1, Ba La (Phú Lương Ward, Hà Đông District). The Fire Prevention and Rescue Team of the Hà Đông District Police dispatched two fire engines, one command vehicle, and several firefighters to the scene to extinguish the fire and carry out rescue operations.
To prevent the fire from escalating, Firefighting and Rescue Team 4 (under the Fire Prevention and Rescue Department of Hà Nội Police) dispatched two additional fire engines for support, bringing the total number of fire engines at the scene to four.
According to the Hà Đông District Police, the fire occurred in an area of approximately 20 square metres on the house's ground floor. The blaze was controlled after about three minutes of deploying the firefighting team.
The rescue forces and local residents saved five people, with nearby residents rescuing two and the rescue forces saving three. The remaining four residents in the house escaped through an emergency exit to a neighbouring house.
The Hà Đông District Police stated that the fire did not cause any casualties. Authorities are currently assessing property damage and investigating the cause of the fire. VNS
