In order to find and communicate good lessons in promoting gender equality in the community, on May 25–26 and June 1-2, 20 young  journalists participated in two field trips in Van Ho District, Son La Province. The field trips are an activity that belongs to the project "No voice, No equal future" that is organised by For Vietnamese Stature Foundation (VSF) and the Department of Education and Training of Van Ho District.

20 journalists and communication officers from many press agencies and social organisations like Nhan Dan News, Dan Viet News, Lao Dong and Cong Doan News, Tuoi Tre News, VTV Digital, VTC, VOV, the Center for Eco-community Development, etc participated in two field trips. In two days, each field trip team had the opportunity to connect local people and hear their stories in the villages of Van Ho and Long Luong communes of Van Ho District.

Journalists and communication officers were shared the general information about the locality before the field trip

Tran Hong Diep, Deputy Director of VSF directly coordinated the two field trips, with professional advice from Dinh Duc Hoang - Deputy General Director of the UNESCO Information Center and former Editor of VnExpress and Lao Dong newspapers, an expert with extensive experience in creating multimedia marketing and journalism products.

The field trip is also one of VSF's efforts to encourage young journalists and communication officers to become agents of change, truly participating in the process of promoting equity and equality with a new perspective in press and media news. As a result, young reporters and communication officers will have a strong and effective voice, highlighting the needs, aspirations, and thoughts of other young people, especially ethnic minority youth.

Journalist Hong Phuc - People's Army newspaper is recording the stories during the field trip

"I feel that this is a really meaningful trip, especially for young reporters like me. Because this is an opportunity for us to access information and expand resources for news articles promoting equality in general and gender equality in particular," journalist Hong Phuc shared after the trip.

After this field trip, VSF's project "No voice, No equal future" continued to launch a media campaign of the same name with the message "Modern Gen Z is not afraid to speak up". The campaign aims to call for action by ethnic minority youth and stakeholders in promoting gender equality and summarises project activities and outcomes.

The project "No voice, No equal future" is implemented by VSF with funding from the US Embassy and the Moon of Hope Programme. The project wishes to increase the voice and participation of ethnic minority youth in Van Ho District, Son La Province, in promoting equality, especially gender equality.
