British Council Việt Nam allowed to resume IELTS test

HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Education and Training has allowed the British Council (Việt Nam) LLC, one of two IELTS test organisers in Việt Nam, to resume the language examinations after eight days of postponement. 

The move came after Deputy Minister Nguyễn Hữu Độ on Friday afternoon approved an association to administer IELTS certification exams of the British Council (Việt Nam) LLC, Đông A Education Technology Company Limited, Odin Education and Training Development Joint Stock Company, University Access Centre Việt Nam Company Limited and the British Council (the United Kingdom).

The decision, which took effect Friday afternoon, will be valid for five years.

Under the decision, exam questions, registration and organisation; facilities and equipment to organise the exam; the assurance of security, safety and confidentiality before, during and after the exam; and the staff, technicians and employees of the parties participating in the exam have to comply with the regulations of the British Council and the laws of Việt Nam.

Exams are carrying out in Hà Nội, Hải Phòng, HCM City, Nghệ An and Thừa Thiên-Huế.

The ministry’s Quality Management Department will be responsible for checking and coordinating with relevant agencies to inspect the organisation of the IELTS certification exam.

Previously, IDP Education Việt Nam, the other of the two IELTS test organisers in Việt Nam, was also permitted to resume language examinations on Thursday.

On November 11, the ministry approved examinations for the Aptis and Linguaskill certificates. — VNS
