HÀ NỘI — There were 163,174 new COVID-19 infections recorded across Việt Nam on Friday.
The new cases bring the country's tally to 7,367,112 since the start of the pandemic.
Currently, 4,144 patients have severe infections, with five on life support.
After review, Bắc Giang registered 34,302 additional cases.
Due to an error in the data entry process into the National System of COVID-19 case management, the number of new infections in Lào Cai Province on March 17, 2022 was double from 4,787 cases to 9,574 cases. Therefore, the total new cases on Thursday (March 17) was revised down to 173,325.
On Friday, the capital city of Hà Nội again registered the highest daily number of infections with 23,578.
The remaining transmissions were found in Nghệ An (9,968), Phú Thọ (8,042), Bắc Ninh (6,488), Lạng Sơn (5,011), Lào Cai (4,671), Đắk Lắk (4,460), Hải Dương (4,407), Tuyên Quang (4,389), Sơn La (4,198), Vĩnh Phúc (3,995), Hòa Bình (3,960), Hưng Yên (3,849), Quảng Bình (3,590), Cà Mau (3,160), Điện Biên (3,097), Thái Bình (3,074), Yên Bái (3,062), Bình Dương (3,060), Bình Định (2,965), Thái Nguyên (2,899), Quảng Ninh (2,889), Lâm Đồng (2,729), Bắc Giang (2,723), Lai Châu (2,658), Cao Bằng (2,656), Bến Tre (2,572), Quảng Trị (2,285), Hồ Chí Minh City (2,246), Hà Nam (2,105), Hà Giang (2,068), Nam Định (1,998), Bình Phước (1,951), Tây Ninh (1,843), Vĩnh Long (1,781), Ninh Bình (1,721), Bắc Kạn (1,696), Trà Vinh (1,603), Hải Phòng (1,243), Phú Yên (1,235), Khánh Hòa (1,192), Thanh Hóa (1,099), Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu (1,000), Kon Tum (987), Đắk Nông (986), Đà Nẵng (956), Hà Tĩnh (944), Quảng Ngãi (899), Bình Thuận (767), Thừa Thiên-Huế (547), Quảng Nam (341), Long An (312), Bạc Liêu (305), Đồng Nai (191), An Giang (160), Kiên Giang (156), Cần Thơ (129), Đồng Tháp (90), Ninh Thuận (62), Sóc Trăng (57), Hậu Giang (54) and Tiền Giang (6).
A total of 57 COVID-related deaths were also recorded, taking the total number of fatalities to 41,740, accounting for 0.6 per cent of total infections.
There were a further 175,971 recoveries, bringing the total number of people given the all-clear to 3,861,959.
Around 201.4 million vaccine doses have been administered nationwide since the start of the pandemic. — VNS
