16,553 new coronavirus transmissions confirmed, Hà Nội registers record 2,791 cases

The capital Hà Nội had a record 2,791 new COVID cases on Saturday, as 16,553 infections were registered in Việt Nam.

 HÀ NỘI — The capital Hà Nội confirmed a record 2,791 new COVID cases on Saturday, as 16,553 infections were registered in Việt Nam.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 1,876,394.

Forty of the new transmissions were imported and quarantined upon arrival, while the rest were domestic.

The other infections were found in Khánh Hòa (798), Hải Phòng (748), Bình Định (742), Bình Phước (718), Trà Vinh (575), Tây Ninh (587), Cà Mau (587), Đắk Lắk (481), Đà Nẵng (474), Vĩnh Long (470), Hồ Chí Minh (436), Hưng Yên (384), Bắc Ninh (382), Quảng Ninh (343), Thanh Hóa (290), Bến Tre (285), Hậu Giang (253), Bạc Liêu (250), Lâm Đồng (236), Thừa Thiên Huế (232), Cần Thơ (208), Vĩnh Phúc (197), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (193), Thái Bình (183), Bắc Giang (182), Gia Lai (181), Nam Định (181), Hải Dương (181), Kiên Giang (172), Hòa Bình (163), An Giang (161), Quảng Nam (158), Bình Thuận (157), Quảng Ngãi (151), Đồng Tháp (150), Thái Nguyên (137), Sóc Trăng (134), Ninh Bình (131), Nghệ An (129), Quảng Trị (114), Phú Thọ (111), Đồng Nai (105), Đắk Nông (103), Hà Nam (95), Yên Bái (86), Lào Cai (74), Sơn La (67), Bắc Kạn (66), Lạng Sơn (66), Bình Dương (59), Long An (53), Ninh Thuận (46), Cao Bằng (39), Tuyên Quang (38), Tiền Giang (37), Quảng Bình (37), Kon Tum (26), Lai Châu (21), Hà Tĩnh (21), Điện Biên (20) and Phú Yên (18).

A total of 240 COVID-related deaths were also announced, raising the nation's death toll since the pandemic began to 34,117.

A further 8,990 patients recovered, pushing the total number given the all-clear to 1,488,038.

The number of Omicron cases in Việt Nam was unchanged at 30 cases. All Omicron infections have been imported, and were reported in Hà Nội (1), Quảng Nam (14), Hồ Chí Minh (11), Hải Dương (1), Hải Phòng (1) and Thanh Hóa (2).

As many as 159,152,206 doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered in Việt Nam by the end of January 6, including 78,206,607 first doses, 70,770,669 second doses, and 10,174,930 third doses (booster shots). — VNS
