14,872 new coronavirus cases reported in Việt Nam on Monday

The capital city Hà Nội has now recorded the highest number of cases nationwide for nine consecutive days.

HÀ NỘI — A total 14,872 new COVID-19 infections were confirmed on Monday, of which 1,948 were detected in Hà Nội, a new daily record for the city in a single update.

The capital has now been the locality with the highest number of cases nationwide for nine consecutive days.

A further 204 deaths were also announced across the country.

The COVID caseload since the start of the pandemic now stands at 1,666,545. In the last week, the country has reported an average of 15,851 new infections daily.

Among the new cases, only five were imported and the rest domestic. A total of 10,418 of the infections were detected in the community.

Other localities reporting new transmissions were Tây Ninh (943), Hải Phòng (931), Vĩnh Long (892), Khánh Hòa (791), Cần Thơ (711), Đồng Tháp (701), Bạc Liêu (595), HCM City (560), Trà Vinh (544), Bình Định (501), Cà Mau (433), Thừa Thiên Huế (381), Bắc Ninh (326), Bến Tre (281), Lâm Đồng (263), Thanh Hóa (249), Hưng Yên (234), Sóc Trăng (223), Đồng Nai (216), An Giang (213), Kiên Giang (204), Quảng Ngãi (201), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (162), Bình Thuận (140), Gia Lai (136), Đắk Lắk (134), Tiền Giang (134), Sơn La (126), Hà Giang (122), Phú Yên (112), Quảng Ninh (103), Đắk Nông (98), Hà Nam (98), Quảng Nam (96), Nghệ An (93), Đà Nẵng (86), Vĩnh Phúc (85), Nam Định (78), Bình Dương (77), Hậu Giang (63), Thái Nguyên (59), Ninh Thuận (56), Quảng Trị (53), Phú Thọ (50), Hòa Bình (45), Long An (45), Thái Bình (42), Bắc Giang (40), Bình Phước (30), Tuyên Quang (28), Kon Tum (24), Cao Bằng (22), Yên Bái (21), Lào Cai (19), Hà Tĩnh (18), Quảng Bình (14), Điện Biên (9) and Lai Châu (8).

The 204 fatalities were in HCM City (30), An Giang (22), Đồng Nai (17), Bình Dương (15), Tây Ninh (14), Sóc Trăng (13), Tiền Giang (13), Vĩnh Long (12), Kiên Giang (12), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (11), Cần Thơ (11), Bến Tre (8), Cà Mau (7), Bạc Liêu (6), Khánh Hoà (3), Bình Thuận (3), Trà Vinh (3), Quảng Nam (1), Bình Định (1), Nghệ An (1) and Đắk Lắk (1).

The 30 deaths recorded in HCM City include six transferred from other localities: Đồng Nai (2), Tiền Giang (2), Long An (1) and Đồng Tháp (1).

The total number of COVID-related fatalities in Việt Nam is now 31,418, about 1.9 per cent of infections.

According to the Ministry of Health, 7,636 patients nationwide are in serious condition, with 905 requiring invasive ventilation and 19 on life support.

A further 11,374 patients were given the all-clear, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,259,614.

Over 146.3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the country to date, with more than 77.1 million people receiving at least one dose. — VNS
