HÀ NỘI — National Assembly (NA) Chairman Trần Thanh Mẫn attended a conference reviewing activities of the group of female deputies to the 15th NA in Hà Nội on Tuesday afternoon.

Head of the group Nguyễn Thúy Anh said that over nearly five years, female NA deputies, together with the legislature, have demonstrated strong political will, sharp intellect and compassion, making significant contributions to lawmaking, supervision and major decisions of the country.

Delegates noted that the female deputies’ group of the 15th legislature marked strong development in both scale and quality.

The female deputies have increasingly asserted their roles not only in social affairs and gender equality, but also in key and complex areas such as macroeconomics, finance–budget, land, national defence–security and foreign affairs, while closely reflecting voters’ aspirations, they said.

NA Chairman Mẫn highly commended the dedication and contributions of female deputies during the NA's 15th term. With only two days remaining before the end of the NA's 10th session, he urged all deputies to continue making their utmost efforts to fulfil the responsibilities entrusted by voters.

He expressed his hope that female deputies completing their tenure would continue contributing to the NA in other capacities, while re-elected deputies would further promote their experience and competence. He also encouraged them to support female candidates with knowledge and skills for election campaigning and parliamentary activities.

With the election of the 16th NA approaching, the NA leader expressed his confidence that relevant agencies would work with the highest sense of responsibility to ensure the proportion of female deputies in the next term remains above 30 per cent, matching that of the 15th legislature. — VNA/VNS
